Urvon - The third disciple of Torak (odd how he just sorta appeared, when we were firmly told in The Belgariad that Torak only had two disciples, Zedar and Ctuchik). "He's got patches of skin on his face and hands with no color at all, so he looks all splotchy - as if he had some gruesome disease." Ussa - See Sadi. Name used by Sadi while the band was pretending to be slave traders. Velvet - see Liselle. + 'Zakath - The emperor of Mallorea. Started calling himself Kal Zakath after Torak was killed. On the lower end of the intelligence scale even by Mimbrate standards. Onatel - Western Dalasian on the Isle of Verkat. A seeress. Onatel - Dalasian girl in Kell. "Onatel" is explained as being a very common name among the Dals. Oskatat - Murgo. High Lord Seneschal to both Taur Urgas and Urgit. Personally loyal to Lady Tamazin. Otrath, Archduke - A third cousin of Zakath. Zandramas though she could install him as the Mallorean Emperor. Pelath - Grolim. Visited Belgarion and company as they sheltered from the hailstorm. The current holder of the title, having been converted to an immortal (at least, so far as we know) snake, will be continuing as queen into the foreseeable future. Sariss - Nyissan. Sorchak - Grolim. He and Chabat were indulging in a bit of witchcraft together (and other stuff, too, nudge nudge wink wink) until Agachak put his foot down. Tajak - Dagashi. + Taiba - Marag. Vetter - Silk's factor in Melcene. + Vo Ebor, Baron of - Nerina, his young wife, and Mandorallen fell in love, but both love and respect the Baron too much to ever consumate their relationship. Gravely injured at the Battle of Thull Mardu, he dies off-stage early in the Malloreon. Belgarion makes sure that Nerina and Mandorallen finally get married. + Vordai - Drasnian. The Witch of the Fens. She had Belgarath give the fenlings the power of speech in The Belgariad. She dies off stage early in The Malloreon, after sending Belgarion a warning via the fenlings Poppi and Tupik. + Vordue family - One of the Tolnedran dynastic families. They attempted to secede from the Empire after Varana became emperor. They weren't successful. Vurk - Former member of the Royal Army of Peldane. He and a group of fellow soldiers witnessed the fight between Urvon and Zandramas and decided that discretion was the better part of valor. Warasin - King of Pallia. "...a fawning bootlicker, a liar, a coward, and absolutely not to be trusted." Woodfoot - Captain Woodfoot of The Star of Jarot. The ship that Balsca left. + Xantha - Queen of the Dryads. Xbel - Dryad. She did appear in The Belgariad (she was the dryad that wanted to kill Belgarion), but she didn't get a name until The Malloreon. + Xera - Dryad. Ce'Nedra's cousin. In The Malloreon, we find out that she is Xantha's daughter. She brought the necessary ingredients from the Wood of the Dryads that allowed Ce'Nedra and Belgarion to have a child. + Yarblek - Nadrak merchant. He and Silk became business partners at the end of The Belgariad, and two years into The Malloreon were on their way to becoming the richest people in the world. "A rangy Nadrak...He had coarse, black hair and a thin, scraggly beard. His eyes had the peculiar angularity to them that was a characteristic of all Angaraks..." Y'Sth - Nyissan. A eunuch. Zelmet - Silk's factor in Yar Nadrak. Zith - A snake. "...a small, bright-green snake...she had gleaming yellow eyes and a vibrant red stripe running down her back from nose to tail." + Zubrette - Sendar. Childhood friend of Belgarion's. She married Rundorig and has five children. As in The Belgariad, there are several memorable characters who are never named. The Murgo Captain - Master of the ship that was supposed to take Belgarion and company to Rak Cthaka. It was a pretty sorry ship, and he was a pretty sorry captain. He died when the ship struck a reef. The Mad Hermit - He lived in the woods on the Isle of Verkat, and played tricks on visitors. Polgara taught him manners. The Senior Administrator for the Bureau of Public Works in Akkad - He filled Belgarion and company in on the conditions at Ashaba. The Karand with the "peg" - Belgarion had a chance to bond with the pig, but we never do learn the old man's name. The wife of Archduke Otrath - After several pages of conversation (including introductions to most of the other characters), she is never called anything but "your grace." The twins - Not only aren't we given the names of Polgara's and Durnik's children, we don't even get to know their sexes! And Eddings CONTINUES to keep us in suspense throughout _Belgarath the Sorcerer_. Historic Characters (These are characters who are mentioned in the text, but have died or been otherwise disposed of before the action of the Malloreon begins.) + Algar Fleet-foot - Second son of Cherek. Founder and first king of Algaria. + Asharak of Rak Goska - Servant of Torak and one of the chief priests of the Grolims. The figure in black that watched Belgarion through his childhood. Murdered Belgarion's parents and was in turn killed by Belgarion. In the Belgariad, we are told his real name was Chamdar, however the Malloreon refers to him only as Asharak. + Beldaran - Daughter of Belgarath and Poledra, twin sister of Polgara. Married Riva Iron-grip. + Brand - Warder of the Rivan Citadel. Took guardianship of the kingdom of Riva on the Isle of the the Winds after the royal family was slaughtered by the Nyissans.
